Strengths & Storytelling Reflection

How have you seen yourself using these strengths at Turing? Has your understanding of these strengths changed since you first reflected on them? If so, how?

  • 1-2 paragraphs about your StrengthsFinder themes: My SF signature themes are the following : strategic. ideation. individualization. acheiver. intellection. How fantastic! According to gallup, "The Strategic theme enables you to sort through the clutter and find the best route. It is not a skill that can be taught. It is a distinct way of thinking, a special perspective on the world at large. This perspective allows you to seepatterns where others simply see complexity." Ideation asserts that "you are fascinated by ideas." Paradigm shifting stuff. Individualization claims that 'intrigued by the unique qualities of each person. You are impatient with generalizations or “types” because you don’t want to obscure what is special and distinct about each person.' As an acheiver, I feel as though "every day starts at zero". Intellection posits that "You like to think. You like mental activity".

These results didn't exhume novel concepts for me. Although I am surprised at how accurate Gallup's assessment is. These are all qualities that make sense to me and that I identify strongly with. Incredible! I love to think. I love individuals. I love problem solving. All of these qualities have helped me to be an empathetic partner and tenacious problem solver.

  • Write a story about your Turing experience so far: I struggle and I struggle often. I have learned to "embrace the suck". This is how I have succeeded. By flexing my growth mindset, by approaching problems with tenacity and grit and resilience, and by being an empathetic and ultra communicative community member.

  • Answer the question: how does your Turing story end? I'm not sure how my Turing story ends but I am looking forward to finding out!

  • After you practice storytelling in the session, answer this question: Telling my story came naturally. Constant reflection and self analysis are ultra important facets of a fulfilled life. The only way to improve is to do so more!
