Note: Since this seems to be helpful to some people, I formatted it to improve readability of the original. Also, note that this is from 2016, many things may have changed, and I don't use macOS anymore, so I probably can't help in case of questions, but maybe someone else can.

jQuery and Angular

Angular doesn’t depend on jQuery. In fact, the Angular source contains an embedded lightweight alternative: jqLite. Still, when Angular detects the presence of a jQuery version in your page, it uses that full jQuery implementation in lieu of jqLite. One direct way in which this manifests itself is with Angular’s element abstraction. For example, in a directive you get access to the element that the directive applies to:

In Git you can add a submodule to a repository. This is basically a repository embedded in your main repository. This can be very useful. A couple of usecases of submodules:

  • Separate big codebases into multiple repositories.

OCR on OS X with tesseract

Install ImageMagick for image conversion:

brew install imagemagick

Install tesseract for OCR:

brew install tesseract --all-languages

Or install without --all-languages and install them manually as needed.
